Relationship of rainfall - Erosion losses

Soil and water losses data were correlated to a previously calculeted rainfall factor which includes rainfall characteristics like intensity, duration and frequency. Data used were recorded and accumulated for a 16 year period at the Centro Experimental de Campinas, from experimental plots planted to continuous cotton on a Latossolo Roxo soil with a 9.9% slope. Correlation studies were conducted between the calculated rfactor and annual and monthly soil and water losses; similar studies were also undertaken for the specific period spanning from October to March. High correlation indexes were found between soil and water losses data and the rainfall factor.
