SUMMARY
The effects of harvesting time and pot size in results of greenhouse experiments were investigated to study nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilization on two varieties of corn: IAC Hmd 6999 and maia-2. The soil used was a Dark Red Latosol collected at the Centro Experimental de Campinas.
The fertilizer treatments were N0P0K0, N0P1K1, N1P0K1, N1P1K0, and N1P1K1. Pots of 6.0 and 10.0 kg capacity were used and harvest were made at 30, 60, 90, 120, 140 and 150 days after germination, according to the variety studied.
With 60 days after germination and for both sizes of pots there was a clear response to nitrogen and phosphorus, indicating that both sizes can be used to study those nutrients in trials with corn. There was no conclusion for potassium fertilizing. A different reaction to nitrogen was observed according to the varietv utilized.
