Open-access Further studies on the effect of sunlight on coffee seed viability

Including iioveral experiments on coffee seed drying carried out in the shade, in the sun, and by chemical dehydration, the present work was undertaken in order to clear up doubtful points in the literature, especially those related to trie viability of applying the sun drying process to this kind of seed. Considering the complete confirmation of the results prior obtained by the A., it may be stated that the coffee seed can be dried in the sunlight without loss of vitality if the water content does not drop under 8% to 9%. Below tins critical level seed germination falls rapidly even when dehydrated by chemicals at room temperature.
