ABSTRACT
This article places itself within socio-discursive interactionism (Bronckart 1997 and 2008b, among others) and aims at suggesting a specific way of studying textual genres: genre analysis from an interlinguistic comparative perspective. First, the work reflects on the notion of textual genre and the specific understanding of genres by socio-discursive interactionism. Then, it presents characteristics of the comparative approach of genres. Finally, it observes some significant possibilities and contributions of this approach to the teaching of languages as well as to translation. The data used to stimulate discussion and exemplify these issues come from research projects, developed in Portugal and Argentina, about different genres (related to diverse social and language activities), in Portuguese and Spanish.
