Open-access Six dimensions of analysis between broadcast and mobile devices in TV news’ language in covid-19 coverage

Abstract

This article proposes six dimensions of analysis on TV news’ language in the first months of the covid-19 pandemic. This research’s methodological course was divided into two moments: first, observation, followed by collection and selection of reports in April, May and June 2020. The illustrative examples were qualitatively selected from Jornal Nacional, by Rede Globo. In a second moment, guided by the theoretical framework (from TV news and journalism on mobile devices) we categorized six dimensions of analysis, which are the main contribution of this article to thinking about convergence, imbrication and hybridization of media and languages. As a result, we found that double remediation becomes evident, in such a radical a phenomenon that it sometimes erases mediation itself.
