Abstract
This paper analyses the film Som ao redor (Kleber Mendonça, 2012) focused on the way its narrative and visual style give emphasis to the different layers of time that interact in a Recife’s modern and verticalized neighborhood. In a comic-dramatic tone the film deals with clear tensions involving opposed social classes, tensions that have something to do with the way people from the higher social stratum deal with their private security.
Keywords layers of time; class relationship; modern city; private security
