Abstract

Greimas and the Generative Development of Semiotic ImmanenceIn this essay, the aim is to show how and how much it is possible to consider the most important theoretical proposition of A.J. Greimas, i.e. the generative articulation of the totality of signification conditions, as the most adequate answer to the questions left unresolved by the two most important traditions in the study of languages and sense all along the last century: the phenomenology on one side and the hjelmslevian glossematics on the other.
