Abstract
There is a short narrative about death written by Fiódor Dostoiévski in 1876 that was inspired by newspaper articles and in which the narrative effort aims to cover the lack of the original sense of death. Titled A gentle creature, the novel is here taken to think about some of the ways that journalism and his texts get to enter into the web of references associated with death in our culture.
