Open-access Crepuscular devices in a diaphanous society

Abstract

Assuming that “each epoch is immersed in a certain day or night illumination” (Benjamin, 2009), what is the lighting that best characterizes our time? Will luminous devices, that accompany us and mediate a large part of our activities, occupy the place of the old fire, around which people enjoyed heat, communion and light? The answer to these questions led us to study the night and the evolution of lighting devices, and to try to understand the relation between production and tiredness society, with the illumination that best defines our epoch.
