Open-access Consciousness taking and the teaching practice: an issue to be considered by school psychology

This study describes the stages in an intervention procedure with English teachers of adult students- 2 male and 2 female, with an avarage age of 27. The subjects' conceptions of adult students and process of foreign language acquisition, development and knowledge were identified. Interaction sessions were held aiming to enable verbal exchanges concerning adult psychological development, analyse the speech acts and discuss the conceptions and theories behind subjects' discourse. During the second intervention, the teaching practice of one of the the subjects was observed and discussed. The results indicate consciousness taking of the implications of adult psychological development for teaching practice; the identification of a method for analysing interventions developed by school psychologists and the identification and caracterization of this professional's role.
