Abstract
I discuss the relationship between my academic and conceptual trajectory and Daniel Miller’s theory, work and research trajectory. Departing from my fieldwork within funk carioca - Brazilian electronic music - mainly focused on its aesthetic dimension and the materialities, I dell upon the notion of “humility of objects” and explore the potentialities that “ubiquitous” things offer for research in Social Sciences. I bring out the analytical and affective generosity that marks my interlocution with Miller and revisit the period I spent in London to carry on my part of PhD research, under his supervision. I return briefly to different theories of materiality that I explored and continue to explore in my intellectual and academic path.
