Els Lagrou é professora titular do Departamento de Antropologia e docente do Programa da Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e Antropologia da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), além de pesquisadora do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). É doutora em Antropologia pela Universidade de St Andrews e pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Tem publicado muitos artigos, além dos livros A fluidez da forma e Arte indígena no Brasil. Também editou, com Carlo Severi, a obra Quimeras em diálogo: grafismo e figuração nas artes indígenas, e produziu o catálogo No caminho da miçanga. Suas áreas de interesse englobam etnologia indígena, cosmopolíticas e estéticas multiespécies, antropologia das artes, ritual e xamanismo.
Rodrigo Toniol é doutor em Antropologia Social pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), professor adjunto do Departamento de Antropologia Cultural e docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e Antropologia da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Bolsista de Produtividade do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), suas pesquisas privilegiam os seguintes temas: corpo, saúde, ciência e religião. Entre seus trabalhos, destacam-se as funções de editor e autor da Encyclopedia of Latin American Religions, além da autoria dos livros Do espírito na saúde, Espiritualidade incorporada e Uma encruzilhada modernista.
