Open-access OTHER GENDERS, OTHER MODERNITIES: MARIANNE WEBER’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO A GENDERED CLASSICAL SOCIAL THEORY

Abstract

This article aims to promote a discussion of the work of Marianne Weber (1870-1954) to contribute to the movement of expanding the classic social debate by tensioning it regarding gender dimensions. In dialogue with the thinker’s critical fortune, the article offers biographical data, as well as a panoramic view of some of her theoretical perspectives and dialogues, with emphasis on her feminist contributions. The specificities of Weber’s sociological thought are related to her role in the women’s movement to present her gendered view of modern culture.
