Abstract
This article recovers Graciliano Ramos’ first literary advances, while he did not have the recognition that he would receive from the 1930s onwards. By reconstructing the social and the intellectual trajectories of the aspiring writer, this study aimed to problematize them to show how they contributed to the misfortunes of his first experiences in the cultural environment, misfortunes that are also due to the way in which the incipient Brazilian literary field was structured.
