Abstract
Children’s right to life without violence is disputed and polysemic. In this article we analyze different interpretations about such right, and the modes of intervention about violence against children in the midst of political debates about the “gender of the state”. To do so, we describe the main transformations in the interpretations and treatment of gender violence and violence against children, and we analyze the different perspectives emerging around a case of extreme violence against a child that was virally diffused in the media.
Keywords: Child violence; gender; categorization; human rights; children’s rights.
