In this article I discuss the connections between visual aesthetics, personal presentation, and technological and social change. I revise analyses published in La Pampa y el Chat (2011), focusing on the production of photographic personal presentations through the use of representational formulae common to pornography, journalism, and the arts; and on the relationship between technological change and the transformation of homo-socialization patterns. I try to persuade the reader about the utility to study the links between different Western representational traditions, the production of personal images, and the ever changing technologically mediated search for homoerotic pleasures.
